BEACH?
Our social worker is heading to the beach for the next week, but when she returns, I think we'll have our first homestudy meeting. I guess that's good considering our house is in remodel shambles!

GETTING STUFF DONE...
This past week, Aaron and I have sent our reference forms out, ordered extra certified copies of birth and marriage certificates, obtained proof of auto insurance, finished about four lessons in our workbook, got fingerprinted for our FBI check, got state and local background checks, inquired about life insurance, made sure our medical plan would cover any pre-existing conditions of our little one, made appointments for physicals for our medical forms, wrote a letter to Ethiopia's Ministry of Women's Affairs, completed our financial statement, got letters verifying our employment and income...ahhhh...and there's so much MORE to do!!!
Thanks goodness for summer. We've been busy. We've met with at least 8 or so prospective tenants for one of the rentals. Aaron and I finished the floors upstairs, Aaron put in new floor trim and he's working on a new trim style for around the doors. We've sold most of our kitchen (Bye-bye granite! Bye-bye '80s peach-ish oak cabinets!) as well as some appliances that we've been holding on to from or for other homes/rentals. Feels good to clean stuff out! Doesn't hurt to have little bits of cash flowing in either because there's a ton flowing the other direction!

OH BOY...
We knew there would be a lot of paperwork, but there's really A LOT of paperwork. Holy! I hope we can be timely with this paperwork as we remodel the home and also take care of school stuff. I've got to take nine credits this year and Aaron needs to take 14! Crazy... I'm glad to have the next few weeks to work on it before my other classes start. I've been working on my personal profile (51 pages) the last couple days -- almost done! Thank goodness we don't have kids right now, we got to skip a couple of those pages. :)
On the other hand, it's nice to know that the process is thorough. Seriously, if we all had parent buttons that could only be turned ON after going through this process, the world might be a better a place...in some ways.

OUR DECISION
2010 sounds like a good year to become parents.
As you probably know, after several years of marriage, we get questions all of the time about when we are going to start having kids. We have been talking a while about it and have decided to trust our gut feelings and beliefs instead of what seems logical. So, yes, we do want to MAKE A HOMEMADE KID or kids one day, but a couple weeks ago, we turned in our paperwork to adopt from ETHIOPIA. The process has been going a little faster for us right now -- maybe because it's summer and we can get appointments and paperwork done more quickly, or maybe it's the economy and there is less of a load on our agency.
Anyway, we wanted to get that out there because we've already done two rounds of paperwork and paid good money (!) - so it's like we're in our second trimester..heehee. Also, WE NEED YOU TO BE PRAYING for our little guy. He might not even be born right now, but as you know, on the path to becoming an orphan, there are many not-so-fun things for he and his family (if or while they are still alive). Pray that he receives nourishment, protection, and love while we wait to bring him home. : ) For those of you who are already parents, I know you that you can think of even more to pray for, please do!
