A WEDDING, BIRTHDAY, AND BACK TO WORK!

So much since our last blog update...I think I should just list and number since it's hard for me to find the right time to type out a post.  There will probably be many lists in our future!  Here are some changes/events:

FIRST WEDDING: My little brother got married in August at my parent's house. This was an event we obviously couldn't (and wouldn't) miss and knew it would be tough to keep the boys close. Anyway, here are a couple pics of our day. Love the wings...

DERBE'S BIRTHDAY:  I can't believe the boys are growing up.  They seem so big to me now!  Derbe has some pretty awesome qualities (and of course, some that we're working on).  One of the things that I enjoy most about him is how much he fully embraces his inner kid (yeah, I know, he IS a kid).  All day long, this boy is singing, dancing, running, building, talking, jumping, etc.  I also love how much he cares for his little bro.  When he was opening his birthday presents, someone gave him some dollar bills to put into his piggy bank.  He immediately took half of them and ran over to Chernet to share...soooo made my heart happy.  He has no idea what they were for--just shrieked for joy and knew he wanted his brother to have some too!

AARON WENT BACK TO WORK:  I must confess that this was SCARY for me...I was so worried that I'd lose it and throw myself (okay...okay...one of the kids) off our porch.  SURPRISE!  That first week was our best yet!  Mostly because Derbe began to attach to me in new ways.  We've made so much progress in our relationship, which I'm so grateful for because I'm no saint...it was pretty hard for me to reach out to Derbe when he would just want his daddy ALL OF THE TIME.  I'm not kidding, I will never forget the day that he stood out on the porch looking at the driveway watching for Aaron, mumbling "daddy, daddy, daddy..." for 45 minutes straight.  SO, we've come a very long way---Derbe's edging Chernet out on cuddle time to be with me.  Much healthier.  Much happier.  Don't get me wrong, one of my greatest joys as a mom, is when Aaron comes home and the boys are OVERJOYED to see him and share about their day.  It's so much fun to watch them as they run to him all smiles. :) Anyway, now the boys and I are figuring out our new normal.  Lots of play, eating, and car rides!

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY:  Oh my...it's like an addiction.  Probably because as much as each age brings new fun stuff, there are always going to be moments in time that we'll always think back on.  For me, it's waking Chernet from his quiet time.  He's so cuddly, skin so soft, smells so yummy.  While Derbe's off and running, Chernet wants to snuggle up into my neck.  All I do is cherish those moments knowing they are numbered.  Chernet recently started climbing up into my lap at random times during the day saying, "Mommy, Chernet baby sit."  Which means he wants me me to hold him like a baby.  Ahhhh...freeze time PLEASE.

Oh, and isn't that bottom pic funny?  Both boys often sleep hiny up.  I just think it's funny that Chernet got himself and all of his belongings on that pillow...
